Often we are asked what a home warranty is and what the benefits are of it. So today I am going to answer your questions!

What is a home warranty?

A home warranty is your best defense against upcoming home repairs and replacements. It’s not your homeowner’s insurance policy. A home warranty is a separate contract covering repairs and replacements on systems and appliances in your home, usually for a period of one year.

Home warranties cover some, but NOT ALL, of these appliances and systems. Contract costs and coverage can vary widely. Home warranties cover normal wear and tear on these systems and appliances, and they MUST be in working order BEFORE the contract is entered into with the warranty company. Be sure to read through your home warranty contract very carefully to make sure it is covering the appliances and systems you want. Some of the contracts are customizable which will help you pick and choose what you think will be best for you and your family.

A home warranty can be very beneficial and save you money when an appliance or system breaks in your home. The home warranty will help cover those unexpected expenses that come about when your stove breaks suddenly.

How much does a home warranty cost?

Home Warranties are fairly inexpensive, typically ranging from $250 to $400, depending on coverage you chose. Home warranty companies sometimes run special sales and either discount policy prices or offer additional coverage for the same price. The policies are prepaid for a year in advance, at which time they expire or can be renewed.

What is NOT covered in a home warranty?
